The Untouchable Tree - An Illustrated Guide to Earthly Wisdom & Arboreal Delights by Peter C. Stone

Welcome to our online art galleries representing selected works by the artist.

Peter C. Stone's Tonalist / Impressionist landscape & seascape paintings and giclée prints have been described as '...luminous spiritual journeys...' that celebrate nature and the wisdom of indigenous cultures.

Weaving together conservation writing with the creative dynamics of art and science, the artist's contemporary oil paintings and books explore environmental issues (conservation, forestry, tribal lands programs, national parks), botanical gardens and horticulture, the healing power of trees, Native American wisdom, shamanism, symbols, and mythology.

The evocative observations and probing questions of his new book, The Untouchable Tree, will interest and stimulate artists and scientists, children and adults. It also provides educators with curriculum-supporting materials to enrich their courses in the humanities and science disciplines.

Outdoor enthusiasts and fine art lovers will enjoy a variety of paintings: Common Trees of North America, Sacred Landscapes, Rivers Around Boston, Massachusetts and New England, Condors in the Southwest, and Seascapes in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Educators will find The Untouchable Tree's sample questions and notes about the paintings and trees useful for classroom activities and lessons in a range of subjects: science (biology, physics, ecology) and geography, english and creative writing, art and history, conservation, horticulture, nature, native studies, social studies, and mythology.

Mr. Stone's in-school workshops are designed to meet requirements for Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Arts and English Language Arts, and are applicable to the study of foreign languages, health, sciences, math, history, and social science. Pre-workshop dialogues with educators are encouraged.
